60.3 pound bass, a new boat record!

New Maridee Record!!

On May 22/09 we set a new Maridee striped bass record. We caught a 60.3 lb. bass while trolling on the Southwest corner of Block Island. It was one of many large fish caught that day. We also had a 50.1, a couple of 40's and 30's to go along with the 60! Not a bad day aboard the Maridee II.
The striped bass fishing continues to be very good as of 6/22. Plenty of fish every day. Now that the fluke season has opened you can combine the bass and the fluke into a full day excursion. The afternoon trips and twilight trips to Block Island have also been very productive. The night time eeling has been very good as long as we can get away from the dogfish. A few blues have shown up, but the main body has yet to make an arrival.
We made our first sharking expedition last week and had a few blue sharks for our efforts. That fishery will improve as (if) the weather warms up a little.
